3 Hope Firemen Lauded for Lifesaving Skills
On 06/13/2023 the Hope Fire Department received a call from dispatch in reference to an unresponsive female located at the Hempstead County Jail.
Upon arrival, Fire personnel from Engine 5 and Engine 6 observed the female to be unresponsive, without a pulse, and not breathing. Probationary FF Travis Loehr and FF Benjamin Ramirez gained control of administering CPR and oxygen while waiting for the adequate use of an AED. While they were doing successful chest compressions and breaths, Cpt. Jack Starks assisted Pafford EMS with the application of the AED and IO IV, and numerous other medical treatments. After successful use of the AED, the female regained a pulse and began breathing again. Once the patient was loaded into the the ambulance, Probationary FF Loehr road with, and assisted Pafford EMS with keeping the patient’s vitals stable until arrival at Wadley Regional Medical Center at Hope.
These actions by our guys and the responding Pafford EMS unit contributed to saving the life of this patient. The Hope Fire Department would like to recognize them for their extraordinary and lifesaving actions and award them all with letters of commendation.
Note: These three men made it clear that they were only performing their duties, and did not want any recognition. The Hope Fire Department decided to recognize them anyway. Great job!
