Lower Arkansas Ham Operators Group Mans Station at Nevada County Depot Museum in Prescott

The Lower Arkansas Ham Operators Group (known by the acronym La Hog) operated a station at the Nevada County Depot Museum in Prescott Saturday.  Such efforts allow the public to learn about the Ham Radio Operators in the area and how important their services are in times of emergency.  Despite the proliferation of cell phones, such technology is often disabled during a weather emergency due to power outages and/or damage to towers.  Many of the local “hams” have alternate power sources and are able to broadcast important emergency information during emergencies.  Anyone interested in learning more about amateur radio can contact Karmel Kuhn or any other “La Hog”.
