State Rep. Danny Watson Offers Comments On Husqvarna Closure

State Rep. Danny Watson said last Tuesday he, Nashville Mayor Larry Dunaway, Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton, and Husqvarna plant manager Steve Harvill all met in Little Rock at the Department of Commerce. He said they “laid out everything, heard everything….proposals…thoughts”. Rep. Watson said the plant manager noted the employees will be terminated in four stages.
Rep. Watson said he toured the plant several years ago and the plant had recently added a large warehouse. He remembered thinking to himself the construction of the huge warehouse probably meant the company was planning to continue in Nashville for many more years. He speculated on the company’s thoughts about taking Husqvarna away from gas-powered machines to battery/electric equipment.
Rep. Watson says the state of Arkansas is going to do everything it can to help Nashville get another plant. He noted the company is already discussing severance packages with some of the Nashville employees.
Rep. Watson called the closure “a shocker”.
