Blevins School Board


The Blevins School Board met Monday (8-14). After the board approved the minutes, the finances were covered. The question was asked what was the money to pay for lockers was used for – a reward system and if there were free lockers. All the bottom lockers are free. There was a motion to approve the financial report which passed
The next topic was the Regional Director’s Report. They meet 4 times a year virtually. There was a motion to approve the report which passed.
The transfer of funds from the operating fund to building fund was proposed and accepted. The amount to be transferred was $238,000.
The topics of standards and absences were discussed. The students can be absent a maximum of ten times per term. How the parents can be contacted after 3 absences was also discussed.
Meal prices have gone up to $3.85 for lunch and $3.00 for breakfast. The shock of coming out of COVID when all meals were free and the increases since then was discussed.
It was noted an update to the district website will cost $7,000. There was a motion to accept the update which passed.
The Motor Vehicle Policy, Facilities and Mobile were jointly accepted.
The next meeting will be September 25 when there will also be a Report to the Public given. The meeting time will be 6pm.
Board training and the resignations of two people and the hiring of another were other topics. There was a motion to accept the personnel changes
For those seeking a jump on their college career setting aside a period where the students can do the work in the computer lab online was recommended.
The enrollment of the Elementary is 236 and for the High School is 198. Overall student enrollment is up by 20.
