John Cain Chapter DAR Holds September Meeting

The John Cain Chapter of DAR met Thursday the 14th at Sandra May’s home with 7 members present. Cindi Newsom had the program on Fort Ticonderoga in New York state. The fort currently owns one of the largest collections of Revolutionary War artifacts in the world. They have more than 1,000 weapons from the Revolutionary War, the oldest surviving American-made uniform in existence, worn by a soldier under the command of John Hancock, and the sword of Alexander Hamlton. Cindi is shown with a map of the fort and a picture of the message that was found in the only nap-sack left that was used to carry messages to other commanding officer’s camps. Terrie James is the new Chapter Regent for a two year term. Brenda Barham, Vice Regent, conducted the meeting.
