Blevins School Board

The Blevins School board met on Monday (9-25)  following the Report to the Public. During the Report to the Public the enrollment numbers were talked about, which won’t be final until October. The Elementary School was fully accredited for the year 2022-2023 as was Blevins High School. 83%of the students of Blevins School District are on free or reduced meals – Elementary 83% and High School 80%. The Elementary has an enrollment of 230 and received a rating of F. The High School has an enrollment of 196 and received a rating of C.

The District aims to have all students provided with grade appropriate material and performing at the grade level.

The School Board Meeting started with a prayer and pledge filled by a motion to approve the minutes. The financial report was reviewed. Teacher salaries totaled $2,145,932.64. Total Operating Expenditures were $2,084,100.29 and total revenues $4,905,089.24. Federal Grants Revenues were $1,779, 494.02 and Expenditures were $1,708,290.56.

The teacher and administrator recruitment plan is focused on recruiting a diverse, representative educator workforce that meets the needs of all students. The goal is to increase the number of minority teachers by 3% by the 2024-2025. This will involve staff or administrators attending career fairs, recruiting minority interns and allowing recent graduates to work as paraprofessionals while attending college.

The student goal is to increase student enrollment in the high school  pre-educator program of study courses, Certified Teacher Assistant Certificate of Proficiency program and concurrent credit courses related to education. This involves increasing student awareness of the different pathways and programs that are available to high school students interested in pursuing a career in education.

The School District has acquired two new buses – a CES Bus with Air and a Special Education Bus. It has also acquired a copy machine, 15 Promethean Boards, a Boss Laser Engraver, and appliances for FACS classroom.

There was an executive session to discuss personnel. The end result was a motion to accept the resignation of two staff members .
