Fire at Sonic in Hope on Sunday

One of Hope’s most popular restaurants suffered a fire Sunday afternoon.  Firemen responded to the Sonic Drive-In on Hervey around 2:25pm Sunday.  There were no injuries but there was damage in the kitchen area.  Sunday evening the roof area was visible where firemen had removed some siding around the roof area to gain access to the fire from above.  There were no serious injuries.  Firemen were on the scene over two hours.  The restaurant remains closed at this time.  The popular iconic eatery on Hervey Street dates back to the 1970’s and has long been one of the most popular in Hope.

According to Hope Fire Chief Todd Martin, the fire is still under investigation.  He described the damage as “heavy”.
