Joyce Floyd

Joyce Cottingham Floyd, age 92, of Prescott was embraced in the arms of her loving Savior on October 18, 2023. She was born the third of eight children to Dave and Thelma Cottingham and raised in the Pleasant Hill community. She was prayerfully devoted to her family as well as her Sweet Home Church family where she served as secretary/treasurer for over sixty years. 

Joyce Cottingham and Charles Floyd Jr. were married in 1947 and nicknamed each other Polly and Pete. They were married for sixty years, and she became “Mama Polly” to her grandchildren. 

She is predeceased by her husband, her sisters Geneva Boyd, Mary Lou Grimes, Lila Loe, Betty Riley, and brother Jerry Cottingham, as well as her son-in-law Dub McIver, daughter in law Mary Floyd, and granddaughter in law Angela McIver. 

Joyce is survived by her sister LaDon Woolverton of Sherwood and her brother Tommy Cottingham (Sharon) of Arkadelphia. She also leaves behind daughters Janice McIver of Hope and Susan Henderson (Jim) of Delight, and son Bruce Floyd of Springhill. Grandchildren include Matt Taylor of Rogers, AR, Dr. Dusty McIver of Omaha, NE, Ryan McIver of Dallas, TX, Zach Taylor of Los Angeles, CA, and Logan Floyd of Springhill, AR. Great-grandchildren are Ramona and Arthur McIver. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends were recipients of her prayers. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Springs of Hillcrest and Gentiva Hospice for their attentive care. A very special thanks goes out to Hillcrest CNA Candy Tribbett and neighbor Sue Cowart for such heartfelt love and special thoughtfulness that she gave to our Mama Polly.

Visitation will be Saturday October 21, 2023, at Brazzel Oakcrest Chapel from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 pm on Saturday October 21, 2023, with burial to follow in Sweet Home Cemetery with Rev. Mark Segovis officiating.
