Hope native and Iraq War veteran Chace McKamie, a former U.S. Marine and father of five, competed against professionals and 730 players total as an amateur in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas on Wednesday, Dec. 14, and made it through to the next round.
McKamie will battle it out in round two on Saturday, Dec. 16, and is one step closer toward winning a share of the record-breaking $40 million prize pool at the WPT Championship. He won his seat to the $10,400 buy-in tournament by defeating 1,500 other players on the World Poker Tour app.
