Hempstead County Quorum Court Holds Final Meeting of 2023

The Hempstead County Quorum Court held their final meeting of 2023 on Thursday (12-21) at the Courthouse.  The JP’s heard from Sheriff James Singleton concerning the Hempstead County Jail Repairs.  The Sheriff estimated the total cost will be about a half-million dollars and is hoping no other bills come in.

The Quorum Court heard from Anna Powell of the Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation who gave a report on a mayoral summit set for January.  Powell said she hopes to have someone from each community at the event and plans to share information rural grants and other topics of interest to the mayors of the towns in Hempstead County.

The meeting was a short one Judge Jerry Crane wished everyone a Merry Christmas.
