UAHT offers entrepreneur course

HOPE – The future of retail business in the United States is four-dimensional: Big box stores, specialty outlets, online sales of products, and mom-and-pop businesses.
George S. Smith, adjunct business instructor at the University of Arkansas, Hope-Texarkana, said, “The introduction of AI (artificial Intelligence) protocols into the workplace, combined with the explosion of robotics, is going to completely change the business landscape. In the future, starting now, workers are going to have to adapt to the changing work environment.”
Smith, a former newspaper editor and publisher, communications executive for two Fortune 500 companies, and corporate communications director of a Japanese-based global GPS company, has been instrumental in starting two business incubator start-ups in Texas and Arkansas. Additionally, he has authored a leadership and management book used in several university and college business departments.
Each spring, Smith teaches “Entrepreneurial Leadership” at UAHT, a course designed to “give instruction and motivation to students aspiring to start their own businesses, or to advance within their current organizations,” he said. In the upcoming semester, the course will be taught at both Hope and Texarkana campuses in Monday and Wednesday classes.
The course is designed, he said, “to give students information on how to start their own business, and in the class they will create a business plan on a virtual business.” Additionally, the class features guest speakers, all successful entrepreneurs who have started a business and executed their business plan to a successful conclusion.
Interested students with questions can contact Smith at gsid143@gmail.com or call or text, 501-259-8545.
Registration for the spring semester is open for the spring semester.
