Hope School Board

The Hope School Board met in the Administrative Building on Monday (1-22). There was a motion by Miss Haynes to approve the minutes which was seconded and passed. After the expenditures were reviewed there was a motion by Miss Moss to approve the expenditures which was seconded and passed.
For the Superintendent’s Report there was a School Board Appreciation complete with a video of thanks.
Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Crossley talked about the presentation to the Planning and Zoning Commission for the Exhibition Center of rabbits, sheep and goats.  The matter was tabled until the next meeting on February 26th at 12:00.
The hours of training for school board members was discussed.  All board members have far above the minimum of 6 with an average of 28 hours of training.
On January 30th there will be a public meeting at Hempstead Hall on the reconfiguration of the Middle Schools.
Mike Radebaugh, the principal of Yerger Middle School presented the transition from general education to STEM, with new programs on Agriculture, Flight and Space, Automation and Robotics as well as the EAST program.  EAST is about trying to solve problems in the community in which the students learn in their way and what they want.  One of the EAST projects was to design a cast that was more flexible.  The students are not only learning but also serving the community.
The next item on the agenda was RFP Custodial for 2024 with the discussion of inclusion of medical benefits. There was a motion by Miss Haynes to accept the proposal for Forston. The motion was seconded and passed.
The next item was gutter maintenance with Mr. Henry Yard Service. There was a motion to extend until December 2025 the contract. The motion passed.
Insuring “1 to 1 technology” paid for magnet funds was the next item. This dealt with Chrome books. A couple of campuses have access already. There was a motion by Mr. Johnson to accept the technology proposal in bulk. This was seconded and passed.
For the personnel packet there were no new hires and 2 resignations.
After an executive session to cover the superintendent’s packet the meeting adjourned.
