Hope Tourism Commission

The Hope Tourism Commission met in the City Hall Boardroom on Tuesday (2-13). After being called to order the minutes were reviewed and approved. There weren’t a lot of expenses last month. The expenses were reviewed and approved.
For the permits and payments there were three companies that were two months behind including Little Caesar’s and Super 8. Seven companies were behind one month.
The new highway billboard sign was reviewed and there was a motion to accept which was seconded and passed.
The Mae Estes concert during the eclipse activities will cost about $7,000 to put on. $10,000 was budgeted for it in a motion which was passed. The concert will be held in the dirt behind Legion Field in case there is a large crowd. For the eclipse hotels, are 90% booked. Most people are booked for Saturday and Sunday. On Monday at the airport there will be a play list at a cost of $600 for the city.
For interstate mowing there is a requirement of a $1,000,000 insurance policy. The city is putting out bids.
For miscellaneous all the signs were ordered. SWARK sold the covers the same day the Commission approved it. The city will get the middle and save the cover for next year.
The signs for the Clinton House have been installed.
New scoreboard signs have been ordered for Fair Park. The Kiwanis Club and the First National Bank of Tom Bean have contributed.
The sidewalks at Jack Williams field will be extended with the building of the parking lot.
