Hope Downtown Network Meets
The Hope Downtown Network Met in the Tailgater’s Annex on Thursday (2-15). During the meeting Steve Harris shared information, recommendations and grants for Hope to become a tree city.
For the next phase of the Downtown Network building, a plumber (John Johnson) has been consulted and Dorsey Askew from the city is working him on a plan. Electricity has been installed in the building.
For the Pocket Park, the Downtown Network will meet with the City Board on March 5th to share information about the planters, tables, and seating.
During the meeting there was talk about having a workday downtown to prepare for the Solar Shopping Saturday.
Carolyn Spenser spoke about community engagement including a wellness initiative run by the Cooperative Extension Service. Community input is needed as to what needs to be addressed in order to support the community.
The Downtown Network will be hosting the community table on May 28th. Jennifer Block was nominated and voted in as Secretary.
On February 26th the Network will have a planning meeting for the Taste of Hope that will happen in October. The meeting will be at the Arts Council Building. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend.
The Downton Network is looking at creating a landscaping plan for downtown and different ways it could be done.
The Downtown Network will not participate in Train Day this year since the eclipse is only three weeks earlier and many of the vendors are expected to at the eclipse and are unlikely to want to show up for both.
