Blevins School Board

The Blevins School Board met on Monday March 11th. The meeting started with a prayer and the pledge. The minutes were reviewed and approved. The financial statements were discussed and approved.
The 2024-2025 school calendar was reviewed and approved. Classes will begin on August 12th and should end May 20th. The district will continue the 4-day week.
Closing school on the day of the eclipse, which is April 8th was discussed. Local and statewide concerns were shares. Safety, communication and resources were the main items of discussion. The board voted to cancel classes.
The board was reminded of the makeup days that have been added to the calendar.
The School Safety Grant was discussed. Superintendent Dixon requested permission to move forward on spending the money on security doors, gym cameras and a visitor management system. A motion was made and passed to approve the request.
The Arkansas School Board Association Worker’s Compensation annual renewal was approved.
Curriculum for elementary was discussed and the purchase was approved.
The board went into executive session and upon returning approved the hiring of Tamario Williams for the outdoor maintenance position and the resignation of paraprofessional Diane Harris.
