Hempstead County agriculture agent, Kim Rowe, and Nevada County agriculture agent, Stacey Stone, are teaming up with Scott Chambless of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Livestock and Poultry Division to hold a brucellosis vaccination day on April 15, 2024.
Vaccination of heifer calves (4-12 months old) against brucellosis, also known as Bang’s disease, is recommended and is available free of charge.
Participants must pre-register. For those located in Hempstead County, call the Hempstead Co. Extension Office at (870) 777-5771 and for Nevada County call (870) 887-2818. You will be asked to provide the following information: The closest address to your corral, the number of heifer calves to be vaccinated, and a phone number where you can be reached on that day. You will be contacted to schedule a time prior to vaccination day.  A sturdy pen and a head gate are required for participation.  Please contact either county Extension office with questions.
