First United Methodist Church Makes Donation to Hope ConneXion

First United Methodist Church of Hope has responded to a need expressed by Hope ConneXion, a local non-profit with a goal of helping those who need food. FUMC members Mike Malek and Dixie Coffee are pictured with the 94 bags of garden soil provided by FUMC and with some of the above-ground planter boxes where the soil will be used.
Hope ConneXion, located at 401 S. Washington — across the street from the former Hempstead County Courthouse, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a goal of not only feeding the hungry, but also helping them learn methods of growing food. The “Blessin’ Garden” at Hope ConneXion has been increased to twice the size it was last year; hence the need for the bags of soil.
Hope ConneXion reached out to the community, via local media, with a list of needs to create a successful garden, including growing starter plants that can be passed on to others to grow their own vegetables. The list of needs included volunteer help as well as a number of other items. Thanks to the congregation of FUMC of Hope, top soil is no longer on the list.
Others who want to help can follow Hope ConneXion on Facebook or call 870-568-7987 for opportunities to support the non-profit’s efforts.
