Richard Ware Completes “MyARInternship” Program
We happened to run across an outstanding alumnus of Hope High on Facebook this week. He told for about six weeks this summer he worked in Little Rock under the MyARInternship program. Mr. Ware shared this about the program from the Department of Transportation Shared Services website…. “The MyARInternship Program allows students to develop a rich understanding of Arkansas State government through in-depth experiences all while cultivating professional relationships and lifelong friendships. Opportunities available during this internship may include meeting with the Governor at the Governor’s Mansion, touring and learning more about the State departments, meeting the Cabinet Secretaries, working on projects that directly affect the lives of Arkansas citizens, and much more!”.
Richard told us he particularly worked in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) under the Department of Transformation and Shared Services (TSS). In OPM, he did a multitude of things such as working with fellow interns in researching state personnel policies, writing reports to suggest how the State of Arkansas workforce can improve recruitment and retention, and even setting up a Wi-Fi signal with a Starlink Satellite. In addition to his normal workdays at the office, on Fridays all of the interns in the program would go on a weekly field trip to a place in state government. These included places such as the Department of Public Safety, Department of Military, Arkansas Crime Lab, Petit Jean State Park, etc. Says Richard, “Overall, I have very much enjoyed my second and final summer in the MyARInternship, having previously worked in the Arkansas Department of Education for the Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired last year.”
Richard Ware is a junior at the University of Central Arkansas where he is double majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. He is double minoring in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies and Legal Studies. He says his future plans include completing his Political Science degree in December and the remainder of his degrees by May of 2026. After graduating at UCA he plans to attend law school.
