Historical Society meets tonight in Washington

WASHINGTON – In connection to 200th anniversary of the establishment of Washington, Arkansas, who were some of the original landowners that formed the town in 1824? Come hear Melissa Nesbitt, Archival Manager of the Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives talk about four individual men that owned the original land patents for the town of Washington and many other lands in Hempstead County and the Ark-La-Tex region. How did they have so much money and how did they acquire the original land patents from the United States government?
