Veterans Day Program in Hope

The annual Veterans Day program was held Monday (11-11) at the old Hempstead County Courthouse. The weather was good and there was a great turnout. The Hope High Cadet Corp presented the colors and handled the Pledge of Allegiance. Wendy Martin brought the National Anthem. The speaker was State Senator Steve Crowell of Magnolia.
A highlight of the service was the presentation of quilts to some of the veterans by the Shover Springs Extension Homemakers Club.
Others who spoke included County Judge Jerry Crane, JP and Pastor Jessie Henry, Veterans Service Officer Donna Rosenbaum, Sheriff James Singleton, and Mayor Don Still. A wreath was lain at the veterans memorial by Hempstead County Deputy Braddock.
Following the program the Hope Lions prepared a fish dinner that was enjoyed by all.
