When a person spends their entire life doing one thing, at some point, they wonder if that is what they are supposed to do.
For Jerry Garcia that was always a given. Known for his rich, heart-warming vocals Jerry is certain he was born to sing. And sing he does! Anyone who has ever heard him sing will bear witness that he sings the songs that witness his heart.
Gospel Music Artist Jerry Garcia resides in Adrian, Michigan with his wife Sarah. He is the proud father of six special needs children, Kathryn, Emmilee, Jacob, Kaylee, Zoe, and ^Andrew^ who has gone on to be with the Lord. Their ministry is truly a family outreach. They minister to audiences with testimonies of personal challenges and triumphs. “We all love to travel.” says Jerry. “We approach our music and ministry as a team, which is effective in our faith and our daily dependence on God. I am so grateful for all we are doing for God as a family”.
Jerry discovered his love of gospel music at a very early age when he began singing and playing music in his local church. Jerry’s heart is to be able to spread the Word of Jesus Christ through Gospel Music and to be an encouragement to a world in need of hope and inspiration, and he is pursuing his calling full-throttle.
Jerry was a teacher before going into full time ministry. After singing in regional quartets for several years, in 2006 Jerry knew it was time to pursue a new direction; solo. “I will be very honest, it was like throwing sand in wind; I was very unsure how it would go. But I just relied on a truth I have known for many years: When God closes a door look for a window. When God calls us out, He will always equip us for the task and make a way where there seems to be no way.”
Since the inception of his solo ministry Jerry has acquired several awards, performed at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, shared the stage with many great Gaither Homecoming Friends, and has been recognized in national trade magazines along with appearing on Christian Television.
Connecting the music with the audience is Jerry’s biggest challenge. Every audience is different. Jerry recognizes and encourages hurting people and tries very hard to leave them with something substantive than just ‘feel good entertainment’. “People are loosing their homes, their livelihoods. Many feel like they are just stumbling along in the dark and their backs are against the wall. So for me, song choice is of the essence. Allowing the song to be the song and get its message inside the hearts of humans. God takes that song where it needs to go.
God has fulfilled the desires of Jerry’s heart by expanding his horizons and allowing his ministry to journey coast to coast, Canada, and abroad. In his travels Jerry has appeared in some of the greatest churches in America. But Jerry’s greatest desire is to be a ministry sincerely dedicated to what the Lord has called them to do. Each member lives and believes what they sing. When you put it all together you have heartfelt dedication to seeing souls saved, Christians encouraged and the Gospel message spread. One Voice – One Message – One Song at a Time!
