Merlyn Mae (Merlie) Watson-Updated

Merlyn Mae (Merlie) Watson, age 90 of Prescott, Arkansas, passed away Thursday December 26, 2024, at her home. Merlyn was born on December 3, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri to Eugene E. and Ora Teschmacher Fohrell. She was a retired high school teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church in Prescott. She was a founder and benefactor for the Fohrell Public Library in Sparkman, Arkansas and for over 60 years Merlyn published a newsletter for the Sparkman Alumni Association. She was a member of the Retired Arkansas Teacher Association and the Arkansas Library Association. Merlyn not only obtained a degree in secondary education at Henderson State Teachers College, but also a masters in school counseling at Emory University.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin Watson and sister Nancy Gist.
Survivors include. Three sons, Jeff Watson, Clarksville, Arkansas, Patrick Watson, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Merrall Watson, Prescott, Arkansas, two grandchildren, Thomas and Cory Watson.
Pallbearers include Lee Cason, Jimmy Maxwell, Todd Prewitt, Wayne Glass, Bob Glass, Mark Glass, Brandon Rash.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm on Tuesday December 31, 2024, at BRAZZEL/Cornish with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland officiating. A burial will follow in De Ann Cemetery.
