Hope City Board

The Hope City Board met on Tuesday (1-7) for their first meeting of the year. The board met briefly in executive session and when they returned Don Still was nominated and approved to serve another term as mayor. Kiffenea Talley was nominated and approved to serve another term as vice-mayor.
Dr. Ladell Douglas’ term at Hope Water and Light has ended and a motion was approved for him to serve another term on the Water & Light Commission. The board approved a motion for Sharon Caldwell to serve another term on the Hope Tourism Commision. A motion was also approved keep for two more city board members to serve on the tourism commission for another term. Stephanie Espinoza was approved to serve on the Hope Housing Authority Board.
The City Board considered renewing the contract with the Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce. That motion was passed.
The board discussed building a new hanger at the Hope Airport. No action was taken as the details are being worked out.
The board discussed preparations for the upcoming winter weather Thursday. City Manager J.R. Wilson said he believes the city has what it needs. The meeting then adjourned.
