Mrs. Gertha Spencer Peoples

Mrs. Gertha Spencer Peoples was born December 18, 1941, in Hempstead County she was the 4th child born to Mack and Savannah Bishop Spencer.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.

Gertha was called from rest to reward February 17, 2025, at Howard Memorial Hospital.

She began her formal education at William Chapel before transferring to Yerger High School. She was in the class of 1961. She had a beautiful voice where sang in choirs.

Gertha married her high school sweetheart, James Peoples and moved to Venice, California, to this union three children were born.

She worked various jobs until her health declined. In 2015, she moved to Nashville, Arkansas with her sister, Joyce. She was a resident of the Springs of Mine Creek.

Gertha is preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Mack Jr., Charles, Thomas, Alvin, James, Luther Gene; four sisters, Willie Mae, Stella, Louise and Rasheeda (Jessie).

Left to cherish her memories are two sons, Tony Ray Peoples of Pasadena, California, Marvin Wayne Peoples of Van Nuys, California; daughter, Sandra Crutchley; granddaughter, Camery Crutchley; sisters, Joyce (Clifford) Johnson and Wanda Briggs; brother, Curtis Spencer; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
