Terry “Yard Dog” Wayne Yarbrough

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Yarbrough, who was born on January 31, 1954, to Walter Walker and Elsie Yarbrough-Walker. Terry departed this life on March 3, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.

Terry dedicated 39 years of his life to Firestone Building Products, where he built a respected career before retiring in 2015. Known for his hard work and commitment, he left a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends.

In his younger years, Terry gained recognition in his hometown and surrounding areas for his exceptional basketball talent. His skills on the court made him a well-known and admired figure, and his love for the game remained a part of him throughout his life. He was also well known for dj-ing and hosting record hops!

Beyond his career and athletic achievements, Terry was a man of unwavering faith in Christ. His deep love for the Lord guided his life, and he found great joy in worship and fellowship. His devotion to his faith and his dedication to uplifting others in Christ were evident in the way he lived and the kindness he shared with those around him.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Elsie Walker, half-siblings: Lewis Edward, Walker (Feet), Clarance Walker (Sugar Man), Gladace Walker Williams, Dorthy and Jean Walker-Holliman, Baby Ray Yarbrough, daughter: Sidra Nicole Porchia, grandson: Zachariah Porchia.

Terry was previously married to Gennetta Burton-Yarbrough and to this union three children were born. Terry and Gennetta still maintain a valued friendship and supportive for each other.

Terry is survived by his sons: Andrea (Tomeka) Williamas, Cory Yarbrough and Tyler (Teritha) Yarbrough, daughter: Terri (Jeremy) Moore. Grandchildren: DeAndrea Williams, Kalisa Williams, Cory Yarbrough Jr., Jikaya Yarbrough, Skyler Yarbrough, Tyler Yarbrough Jr., and Jayce Moore, siblings: Jessie Walker Flanagan, Cedric Walker, Cassandra Eni, Gwendolyn (Ray) Irby, and Loretta Bell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In his final days, Terry was lovingly cared for by his devoted niece, Elsie, who provided unwavering support and comfort, Gentiva Hospice Staff, the Springs of Hillcrest Rehab and Nursing facility.

A service to honor and celebrate Terry’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Prescott on Saturday, March 15, 2025. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Brandon’s Mortuary in Hope, Arkansas, on Friday, March 14, 2025. His earthly body will be laid to rest at Antioch Cemetery in Stephens, Arkansas. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Terry to join in remembering a life well-lived.

Terry will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him. His faith, kindness, and legacy of love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
