Prescott School Board

The Prescott School Board met in the junior high conference room on Monday (3-17). Superintendent Robert Poole talked about how well the school was doing in their improvement in state ATLAS testing scores. Particularly impressive is the ranking of number 1 in the state for the improvement in English literacy from kindergarten through high school. The district is also doing quite well for the math scores. Middle school and high school particularly have advanced in English language skills.
A motion to approve the minutes from the last meeting passed.
For the financial report, the current tax revenue is $20,083.47.  63% of the budgeted revenue for the previous month has been collected. 60% of the budgeted expenses have been spent.
Current enrollment is 330 for the Elementary, 250 for the Middle School and 221 for the High School for a total of 801 for the district.
Both a four and a five-day calendar were proposed with the expectation of continuing with a four day one. The five day one is simply in case the state mandates a five-day school week.
The board went into executive session and afterwards motions were passed to hire Jeffrey Burton as the junior high principal. The resignations of teachers Ted Carter and Paula Bell, paraprofessional David Bell and Superintendent Robert Poole were accepted.  The meeting then adjourned.
