Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court met on Thursday (4-24). After a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance there was a motion to accept the minutes of last month’s meeting.

Three ordinances were presented to the JP’s.  The first ordinance was to appropriate and transfer funds from Quorum Court Miscellaneous to the Veteran’s Service budget to help with the purchase of a new DAV van.  The second ordinance was to establish a FEMA Tornado Disaster fund.  The third ordinance was to amended ordinance 2024-19 to add more money to the road department line item.
Hempstead County Judge Jerry Crane said those who helped fix the roads deserve recognition.  He also said that there needs to be a digital sign for when the courthouse is closed.   He said it would cost $20,000-$30’000.  The judge also thanked the sherif and his deputies for helping keep people safe during the recent big storm.  The meeting then adjourned.
