Blevins graduation held Saturday at Hempstead Hall

HOPE – The Blevins School District held their graduation at Hempstead Hall on Saturday evening. After the processional and the National Anthem was played and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and followed by a prayer in both English and Spanish.

The Salutatory address was by Faith Cruz and the Valedictory address by Audrey Lovette. The speeches included references to who could be counted on for different things, the challenges the students faced, including the challenges of home learning during the COVID period and how small Blevins is. Lessons learned included how to be resilient and to speak up for what is right. Also important is perseverance and dedication. The last year was said to be a challenging year. One more lesson was encouraged – to be in the moment and take a breath.

During the event the fact that many of the students received scholarships and many graduated with a college class was recognized as well. With scholarships ranging from $8,000 to six-digit figures, more than $1.1 million dollars was awarded to the students.
