Hope Kiwanis Hears Program From Clinton Primary 3rd Grade EAST Students

The Hope Kiwanis Club heard from a group of 3rd grade EAST students from Clinton Primary on Tuesday (5-6).  EAST is an acronym for “Education Accelerated by Service and Technology”.  The program promotes critical thinking and creative problem solving.  The program also engages students in positive, real-world experiences.

The 4th Grade EAST students from Clinton Primary this year went to the annual conference and won the “Judge’s Choice” award.  The team also got to go to the Capitol and meet with Senator Steve Crowell and State Rep. Dolly Henley.

Three groups of students spoke and discussed their projects.  Projects they detailed included getting new nets for the basketball goals at their school, making 3-D gloves for students to use on the monkey bars so they don’t get blistered hands, and working on eliminating some popping in the pipes that run through a library.  The students are utilizing 3-D printers for some of their problem solving.

The students were very engaged and answered a number of questions from the club.  The students also gave the Kiwanis members bookmarks they had made.
