PRESCOTT — Prescott nonprofit Hamilton Haven continues its efforts in working with local school districts, recently donating books to kindergarten students.
Blevins’ Randy Hughes Elementary, Nevada Elementary School, and Prescott Elementary school received books on May 12 and May 13.
Hamilton Haven provides emergency, short-term housing to temporarily displaced families and individuals.
“A special thank you to all who donated. We were able to purchase ‘Ready-To-Read’ books that were given to more than 110 kindergartners in the Blevins, Nevada, and Prescott elementary schools,” said Hamilton Haven administrative assistant Leslie Hughes, who organized the effort.
This is the third year Hamilton Haven has managed this program, which began in 2023 with Prescott Elementary and expanded to Blevins and Nevada in 2024.
“It’s a blessing for our team to invest in our community,” Hamilton Haven executive director Michele Hamilton Rhodes said. “It’s exciting and intriguing to see young people expand their knowledge.”
“We want to encourage education through reading,” Hughes added.
Dr. Kimberly Turner is the principal of the Blevins schools. Tonda Pennington serves as Nevada Elementary principal. Kimberly Grimes is principal of Prescott Elementary.
