Bobbie Rea Garrett Powell

Bobbie Rea Garrett Powell, age 86, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on January 10, 1939, to the late Eunice and R.E. Garrett, Bobbie Rea was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, teacher, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry B. Powell, with whom she shared a life full of love, laughter, and devotion.

Bobbie Rea dedicated 36 years of her life to teaching English at Hope High School, where she inspired generations of students with her passion for literature and her unwavering commitment to education. She was known for her warmth, wit, and the lasting impact she made on the lives of those she taught.

Outside the classroom, Bobbie Rea’s greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and loving mother to her daughter, Danielle Powell, her bonus daughter Mallory Evans, and her stepchildren, Jason (Melonely) Powell, and Deniece Caldwell. She cherished every moment spent with them, especially watching Danielle grow up excelling in sports and rodeo. Her spirit was never brighter than when she was cheering from the sidelines, encouraging Danielle with pride and unconditional love.

Bobbie Rea’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched — through education, mentorship, friendship, and motherhood. Her love, strength, and wisdom will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A special thank you to those amazing people who helped us care for Bobbie Rea: Requita Muldrow, Gwen Carroll, Adrian Powell, Susan Evans, and Aimee Wooten.
