International Student Exchange Hosts Prescott/Nevada County Chamber Coffee

The International Student Exchange hosted the Prescott/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Community Coffee on Tuesday (5-20). Arnetta Bradford is with the program. It allows exchange students from a number of different countries to come into our community and live with host families for one semester or a full school year. I.S.E. finds host families within the communities they serve. The host families are volunteers. The program allows the exchange student a chance to learn our culture and language. Bradford said in exchange, the family learns about the student’s home culture and language. The host family is responsible for the normal three meals a day and a place to stay. The students are responsible for everything else including clothing, personal items, and activities.
The ages of the exchange students rand from 15 to 18 years. Bradford said she has been coordinating this program for almost 15 years and says she loves how it transformed the communities she serves.
The first two exchange students Bradford placed were at Spring Hill. This year there are two exchange students at Prescott High, eight at Hope High, and two at Spring Hill.
