Bennie Jean Purtle

Bennie Jean Purtle, age 96, of Sutton, Arkansas passed away on May 29, 2025, in Arkadelphia.

Mrs. Purtle was born on January 31, 1929, in Spring Hill, Arkansas to her parents Morris and Maggie Dickson Powell. She loved mowing her lawn and tending to her flower’s beds.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Junior Purtle; son, Rickey Purtle; granddaughter, Lori Ann Johnson; five brothers, Jesse Powell, Johnny Powell, Odel Powell, Sammy Powell, Loy Powell; and four sisters, Ora Bobo, Nora Weese, Dora Burns, Josephine Curtis.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kathy (Larry) Johnson; daughter-in-law, Faye Purtle; two granddaughters, Casey Purtle, Marissa Purtle; two grandsons, Matt (Tamara) Johnson, Nick (Jennifer) Johnson; seven great grandchildren, Katie Johnson, Ellie Johnson, Gus Johnson, Caroline Johnson, Garrett Avery, Megan Avery, Will Avery; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Hope, Arkansas.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Laneburg Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Dillard officiating. Burial will follow at Laneburg Cemetery under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
