Southwest Arkansas Arts Council announces dates and new location for the 2025 S.T.A.R. Academy

HOPE – The Southwest Arkansas Arts Council is excited to announce the dates and location for the upcoming S.T.A.R. Academy. This year, the S.T.A.R. Academy will take place on the UAHT Campus in the Rapert Library. This year’s selected dates are July 21 – July 25. The performance will take place on July 25 at 6:00 PM on the stage in Rapert Library. Participants will gather each day from 9:00 AM through 3:00 PM. Lunch will be provided each day. S.T.A.R. Academy is open for rising 1st – 12th graders.
Thanks to a grant through the Arkansas Department of Heritage, Chris Espinosa will, once again, direct the 5-day drama camp. He is looking forward to meeting students who are interested in a summer theater learning experience. This year, Espinosa is bringing a bit of whimsy to town with Bippity Boppity Oops!
Beckie Moore, Interim Director, shared, “The SWAAC Board of Directors and I are encouraging students (rising 1st – 12th) to participate in this exciting theatrical experience. The weeklong camp starts with auditioning for parts, then learning lines and designing stage props. Please join us and see where this year’s adventure leads!”
There is a fee of $30 for SWAAC members and $35 for non-members. As always, scholarships are available as needed. There is also a $5.00 discount for additional siblings to participate. If your child is participating in Kid’s College, the fee is waived if you bring proof of payment from Kid’s College. S.T.A.R. Academy t-shirts will be available for $10.00.
To receive the Registration Form as well as the Medical Consent Liability Release Form, please email the Southwest Arkansas Arts Council at swaac13@gmail.com. Deadline to request forms and register is Thursday, July 17, 2025.
