Hope Landmark Coming Down

A Hope landmark is being demolished this week. Hope Builders Depot is coming down to make way for a new 20,000 square foot building and more parking on the site. Owner John Odom said the oldest part of the building, the eastern part, was built in 1939 with the other section being added later.
The building was built as Hope Builders Supply. It operated into the 1980’s as a retail store. After the retail store closed, Hope Builders operated several more years in the building as a ready-mix company. The building later housed an antique mall, a Mexican restaurant, and an auto parts store before the Odom family purchased it and reopened it as Hope Builders Depot.
