Nevada County Quorum Court

The Nevada County Quorum Court met on Tuesday (7-8).  After a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, the last meeting’s minutes were approved after a correction on a motion was noted.

There was discussion on purchasing a new truck for the Sheriff’s Department for $70,000.  This purchase has been approved but the county doesn’t have the money for the purchase.

It was noted the state still owes the jail $50,000 in reimbursement for holding state prisoners.

There was some discussion about how having the sheriff come give a report. The JP’s voted to table the issue until consulting the Sheriff.

Sheila Ballard, who works for the Nevada County 4-H office, gave an update.  She noted Extension is gearing up for the school year.

The Prescott fire chief gave an update and noted due to a grant, a new fire station is to be built in the western part of Nevada County.

The JP’s considered Ordinance 25-5.  This ordinance would set a maximum amount for the sheriff’s drug enforcement fund.  The JP’s voted 5 to 3 to approve the ordinance.
After discussing the financial statement, the meeting adjourned.
