SWAAC Sets Community Meeting on Possible Community Theater Group
HOPE – The Southwest Arkansas Arts Council is inviting the public to a community meeting to discuss the possibility of forming a new amateur theater group. The meeting will be held on Friday, September 19th, at 5:00 p.m. at The Art Station, 200 E. Division St.
The gathering will give community members a chance to share their ideas and explore what they would like to see in a local theater group. Whether you’re interested in acting, directing, set design, costumes, or simply supporting the arts, your input will help shape the vision of this potential group.
The effort will be led by writer and director Freddie Parks, whose play When the World Ends recently won the Audience Choice Award at the 17th Annual New Play Festival at the Tyler Civic Center Theatre in Tyler, Texas.
“We’re not launching productions just yet—this first meeting is simply about listening, sharing ideas, and seeing who might want to be involved,” said Rachel Pendergraft, Executive Director of the Southwest Arkansas Arts Council. “But with Freddie’s talent and passion, we’re excited to see what possibilities might come from this collaboration.”
Anyone curious about participating, volunteering, or supporting the effort is encouraged to attend.
