Hope ended August just under the average rainfall for the month but with much cooler than normal average temperatures. That according to records compiled at the Southwest Research and Extension Center which serves as Hope’s official weather station.
Rainfall for Hope was just under average with 2.84 inches of rain recorded. The normal average is 3.04 inches which means Hope ended the month down two/tenths of an inch below normal; however, Hope is still well above average on year-to-date rainfall. Hope had received 52.01 inches of rain through August, that compares to normal average rainfall of 34.90 inches at the end of August.
The average monthly temperature was 71.06 degrees. That compares to a normal average temperature at 81.10 degrees meaning Hope was 10.04 degrees cooler than normal. The high temperature was 101 degrees on August 20th and the coolest temperature was 65 degrees recorded on August 27th.
