Bobcats defeat Ashdown Panthers in overtime 25 to 19

ASHDOWN – The Hope Bobcats traveled to Ashdown for their 2nd road non-conference matchup of the 2025 season, coming away with a 25-19 win.
The Bobcats struggled early but remained close trailing 7-0 in the first quarter. The Panthers scored early on a long run to the Bobcat 5 yard line. Hope was moving the ball in the second quarter but the drive ended in an interception which the Panthers returned to midfield. Panthers scored again with 7:49 remaining in the 2nd quarter but missed the extra point to lead 13-0 at halftime
The Bobcats took the second half kick off with a long-sustained drive resulting in a QB Trey Hoglund completing one of his 3 TD passes to Devonte Jones cutting the Ashdown lead to 13-6. Extra point was no good.
Later in the 3rd quarter Bobcats scored again on 30 yd. TD pass from Austin Courtney to Brown to cut lead to 1, 13-12 after a try for two failed.
Early in the 4th quarter, the Bobcats scored again on an exciting pass play from Hoglund to Cheatham for a 70-yard touchdown pass & catch. The extra point was good, giving the Bobcats the lead for the first time to 19-13.
Ashdown scored for the first time in the second half tying the Cats 19-19 as the extra point kick was blocked.
With no scoring the remainder of the 4th quarter, The Cats & Panthers went to overtime.
The Bobcats were on offense first and scored on a pass from Hoglund to Jaiden Brown giving the Cat’s a 25 to 19 lead. Next came the Panthers chance to tie or win the game.
The Bobcat’s rose to the occasion allowing no complete passes denying the Panthers a chance to win the game. Allowing the Bobcats their first win of this young season 25-19!
Stats for the game were awesome for the Cats with QB Trey Hoglund 4 for 10 passing, 113 yards and 3 TDs.
Austin Courtney was 6 for 11 for 91 yds and 1 TD.
Jaiden Brown had 5 catches for 79 yds and 3 TDs.
Devante Jones had 1 catch for 67 yds after catch and a TD!
Devonte Williams ended the game with 2 catches for 34 yards.
Defensively the Bobcats had a great night with Joel Bello ending the game with 10 tackles. Xavier Fields had 9 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble. JJ Gulley also had ten tackles, with 1 sack and a forced fumble as well. Braydon Messer 5 tackles and Braylin Smith 3 tackles and one interception.
Bobcats return home for their annual rivalry with the Prescott Curley Wolves at Hammons Stadium.
