Blevins School District holds Annual Report and board meeting

BLEVINS – The Blevins School District held its Annual Report to the Public on Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Blevins Cafeteria. Cathy Rogers opened the program with her 2024–2025 review of the district’s Gifted and Talented program. Superintendent Stephanie Dixon then presented the district’s Annual Report to the Public.

Following the report, the Blevins School Board convened its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Board members approved the August 2025 minutes and reviewed and approved the district’s financial report.

Superintendent Dixon presented the 2025–2026 district budget, which was approved unanimously. She also requested the removal of outdated assets, including an ice machine and a bookshelf, which the board approved.

The student handbook was amended, and a new athletic handbook was reviewed and adopted.

Dixon also addressed a return of fraudulent activity with one of the district’s checking accounts. Due to the resurgence, the board approved closing the account. The board also approved renewing property insurance, the purchase of a new lawn mower through state contract, and reviewed board professional development requirements.

After an executive session, the following actions were taken:

– Amending yard maintenance contract to an hourly basis
– Hiring an additional kindergarten teacher
– Approving the amended School Resource Officer (SRO) contract

Secretary Laura Clark noted the upcoming Blevins 5K event in October hosted by the Science Club. The meeting adjourned following discussion of these items.
