Drake Givens of Nevada High 2nd place honors in TeachAg contest

RUSSELVILLE – Nevada agriculture teacher Drake Givens has been recognized in the Farm Credit of Western Arkansas TeachAg Contest. Givens placed second out of the top three winners.

Our top 3 teachers will receive $300, $200, and $100, respectively. Terry Maye of Horatio placed first and Sarah Reeves of Concord placed third.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to cast their vote and share memories and kind words about all of our nominees.

“Our top three nominees accumulated over 1,000 votes at the time of counting. Take some time to reach out and thank your local ag educator for the difference they are making in your community and our industry,” the group said in a statement.

Drake Givens was nominated by his wife:

“I am honored to nominate my awesome husband Drake Givens for the Arkansas’s Favorite Ag Teacher. Under their leadership, FFA membership at the school has more than doubled, giving countless students the opportunity to grow in agriculture and leadership. They have guided more teams than ever to qualify for the state CDE competition, restarted the livestock show team, and opened doors for students to participate in ag mechanics shows across Arkansas. Their dedication is also evident in raising over $10,000 at the annual auction to support the school’s program. Through these achievements, Drake has not only strengthened the FFA chapter but has also inspired students and the community, making them truly deserving of this recognition.”
