Prescott School Board Meeting

September 29, 2025 Prescott, AR – The Prescott School Board held its regular monthly meeting on Monday evening, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. in Building #5 on the Junior High campus. The meeting was called to order by Board President Michael Williams, and it began with an invocation, continuing the district’s tradition of opening with prayer.
Under the new state law, SB 90, the board now holds a public comment period at each meeting. This month, one resident took the opportunity to speak, sharing a variety of concerns and suggestions touching on both academics and athletics. The board listened respectfully, and the speaker was given the full three minutes to share her thoughts.
Superintendent Angie Bryant reported that district enrollment currently stands at 867 students.
The board also recognized recent achievements and upcoming events for Prescott’s student-athletes. The Lady Wolves Golf Team had a strong showing at the District Tournament, with Harlee Faulkner finishing third overall with a score of 109. Her performance might qualify her for the Girls’ Golf State Tournament. The Boys Golf State Tournament is scheduled for October 6, and the Overall State Championship will take place on October 16. Prescott’s cross-country team is also active this fall, competing in regional meets across Southwest Arkansas. While individual results are still coming in, the team is preparing for the Arkansas State Championships, which are typically held in late October or early November. Fans can follow results on Athletic.net and MileSplit Arkansas.
The board reviewed the 2026 fiscal year budget, presented by Elizabeth Lawrence.
Kathie Jones expressed concern for Junior High students, noting they are a wonderful group of students facing challenging years of growth and expression. She also shared concerns about “substitute teacher staffing.” The district’s solar energy purchases and their costs were mentioned, with an explanation that the costs are being covered by the income generated from the energy output. The meeting concluded with an executive session to address personnel matters.
