Roy “Bill” Wendell Covington

Roy “Bill” Wendell Covington, 91, of Buckner, Arkansas passed away at home on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Bill was born to Roy and Clara Covington in Prescott, Arkansas on April 22, 1934. He was a long-time faithful member of First Baptist Church, Buckner, Arkansas. He loved to camp and fish, spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Bill spent most of his life working in the oil field and retired at the young age of 83. He loved to tell his stories and visit with all of his friends. He was a Veteran of the United States Army.

Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Clara Covington; brother, Jerry Covington; sister, Darlene McCullum; grandsons, Russell Carmony and Cody Covington.

Survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Covington; daughters, Elizabeth Covington of Taylor, Arkansas and Billie (Royce) Vines of Buckner, Arkansas; sons, David (Sheena) Covington of Buckner, Arkansas and Nick (Amy) Covington of Waldo, Arkansas; grandsons, Ben (Renee) Mitchell of Greensboro, North Carolina, John (Shelly) Mitchell of Benton, Arkansas, Steven (Katie) Mitchell of Spring, Texas, Chris (Sidney) Vines of Hope, Arkansas and Davey Covington of Stamps, Arkansas; granddaughter, Sara (Gage) Sanders of Waldo, Arkansas; bonus daughter, Lexi Burchfield of Waldo, Arkansas and bonus grandsons, Jaxon and Braxton of Waldo, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Bella, Jack, Charley, Teddy, Ellie, Jacelyn, Paxson, Carson, Elliot, Russell and McKamie; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Honoring Bill as pallbearers are Charles Covington, Donald Covington, Ricky Clark, Paul Murphy, Bill Rowe, and John Dodson.

Honorary pallbearers are Max Story, Therrell Story, David Wilson, David Burge, Ricky Rogers, Randy Simmons, Andy Bollinger, Ashton Robinson, Ricky Rogers Jr., Jeff Buehler, and the men of First Baptist of Buckner.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at A. O. Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Buckner in Buckner, Arkansas. Bro. Andy Hawkins and Bro. Chris Vines to officiate the service. Interment to follow at Sardis Cemetery, Stamps, Arkansas. Services are under the direction of A O Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas.
