Reverend Myzell Smith
Reverend Myzell Smith, 92, affectionately known as “Mike” passed away peacefully on September 29,2025 at the Hospice Center in Texarkana, TX. He was born to the late Luther Smith and Rella (Trotter) Smith in McNab, Arkansas on February 9, 1933. He spent his childhood and youth primarily in Arkansas and Texas where he attended school. He started his education in the Nazarene and later graduated from the school Board of DeSoto County in Arcadia, Florida. Myzell worked several jobs, including in the Transformer Division and at Western Sizzlin.
Myzell was baptized at an early age, and he later served as Pastor of the Ivey Chapel A.M.E. of Nocatee, Fl. After he retired from work, he moved back to Arkansas and united with Church Hill C.M.E. Church. Later in life, he became a member of the Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as the associate minister, teaching Bible Study, and also Sunday School until his health declined. On August 4th, 2025, he was presented the honorary Title of Emeritus by his church. His favorite book of the Bible was Proverbs.
Myzell loved his family and also playing dominoes. He spent years researching the history of his family tree. He was among many of his family members who initiated the Smith-Trotter Family Reunion. He was a dedicated participant and looked forward to their Biennial Reunions (attending the one in New Orleans, LA this year 2025).
Myzell is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Tommy A. Green Jr, Mary Neal Smith and Mary L. Muldrow, four brothers; Nathaniel Smith, LeRoy Smith, John L. Smith and Adell Smith; three sisters, Timmie R. Smith Beasley, Ida M. Smith Whitaker, and Gracie L. Smith Shaw.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and perseverance that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories one sister, Ruthie M. Walker of Nocatee,Fl; three sons, Tommy Green (Laura) of Georgia, Johnny R. Muldrow and Jimmy Muldrow (Deitra) of Fulton, AR, four daughters, A Yemisi Jimoh of Seattle, WA, Brenda Scott (Johnny) Fulton, AR, Jean Diallo of Tacoma WA, Carla Gill of Texarkana, AR; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his church family (Union Missionary Baptist Church). As well as his dog (Charlie).
Visitation will be 11am-5pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:30 Saturday, October 18 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 201 Townson Street, Fulton, Arkansas. Burial will be at Church Hill Cemetery in McNab. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
