Mrs. Deanna Allen gave the Council more information about the proposed annexation issue. There was some heated debate about this issue. Maurice Grant suggested the issue was dead and the topic should be dropped. With the information Mrs. Allen presented, there was a motion approved by the council to table the annexation issue until further information could be obtained.
The council approved a 5-mil tax ordinance. This property tax has to be voted on each year. The tax is not new, it has been in effect for some time.
There was discussion about a request for a area resident to hook on to city water. No action was taken. Also, the council discussed the posting of announcements on a board attached to a city building. The council voted to establish a separate board for announcements.
Deanna Allen gave an update at the children’s park. She also noted “trunk or treat” will be observed on Halloween from 6pm to 8pm.
The council discussed the financial report. A citizen also asked the council to invest in a sound system so those in the audience could better hear the council members during meetings. The meeting then adjourned.
