Hope Lions Hear Program on Hope Bands

The Hope Lions heard from the direction of the Hope Public Schools Band Program, Christian Davis, on Monday (10-27).  Mr. Davis noted the band has been competing in contests this year including at Bryant and Lake Hamilton.  The band were Class A champions at the West Texas Bands of America competition in Midland, Texas.

The band will compete at the state competition on November 2nd in Little Rock at War Memorial Stadium.  There will also be Christmas band concerts December 1st and 2nd at Hempstead Hall.

The high school band has about 85 members and there are over 300 band students in grades 6 through 12.  Mr. Davis says they expect growth of about ten percent each year for the couple of years.

The Lions really enjoyed hearing about the “Sound of Hope” and had plenty of questions for Mr. Davis on the program.
