Crew 1313 Rallies Hope Community for “Fur Baby Fundraiser” at Walmart

Hope, Arkansas The parking lot of Hope’s Walmart Supercenter turned into a hub of compassion on Saturday, November 15, as Crew 1313, a local volunteer group, hosted its “Fur Baby Fundraiser” to benefit the Hope Animal Shelter. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., shoppers were greeted by smiling volunteers and a clear mission to help provide food, treats, and comfort for the area’s most vulnerable pets. The event invited donations of puppy food, dog food, treats, and “chew toys,” with cash contributions also welcomed. Every item collected will go directly to the Hope Animal Shelter, which serves as a safe place and a haven for abandoned and stray animals.
Among those lending their time and energy were dedicated student volunteers: Ayla Carvin, Andrew Clark, Melody Martinez, Logan Adamson, Geraldo Rodriguez, Chris Marcum, Kevin Bran, and Layna Shenk, Star, Everette, and Delilah. Their enthusiasm was matched by adult volunteers who helped organize and manage the event: Jennifer Martinez, Felecia Rodriguez, Teri Wilson, Jenn Grahm, Carla Farmer, Andy Farmer, and Paula. Together, they formed a team that kept donation tables stocked and spirits high throughout the day. Animal shelters across the region face mounting challenges—rising food and veterinary care costs, coupled with fluctuating donations.
For Hope Animal Shelter, community-driven events like this are essential to keep tails wagging and bowls full. “Every bag of food and every dollar make a difference,” said one Crew 1313 volunteer during the event. “These animals depend on us, and we depend on the kindness of our neighbors.” The Hope Animal Shelter, located in Fair Park, works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome pets. Many of these animals arrive malnourished or injured, requiring immediate care. Without consistent support, shelters often struggle to meet these needs. Crew 1313’s fundraiser not only provided tangible supplies but also raised awareness about adoption and volunteer opportunities.
Several visitors expressed interest in fostering or adopting, proving that events like this ripple far beyond a single day. If you missed Saturday’s event, it’s not too late to make a difference. Donations can be dropped off at the Hope Animal Shelter or arranged through their Facebook page. Monetary contributions are also accepted to help cover medical expenses and shelter upkeep.
