Nevada County Quorum Court

The Nevada County Quorum Court met in the County Courtroom on Tuesday, November 18th. The minutes, financial statement and solid waste financial statements were all approved. Four Ordinances were passed during the meeting and the Court heard from Valerie Cobb, Sheila Ballard, David Gummerson and Ben Hale.
The ordinances dealt with amending the budget for state funds for the election, the county courthouse grant money received, levying property taxes to be collected in 2026 and amending the tax collection ordinance.
Cobb handed out a list of upcoming events and said Trick or Treat on Elm had a great turnout. There were 26 families on the giving tree with only three left at the time of the Court.
Ballard gave an update on 4H kids and about some upcoming cooking classes.
Gummerson passed out a sheet of current FEMA projects and reimbursement time lines. The shutdown has delayed them by 30-40 days.
Hale spoke to the Court about the Trash ordinance and said Rowe Stayton will serve as the local attorney for the Court when needed.
