PRESCOTT — Two ninth grade students at Prescott High School were named the winners of Hamilton Haven’s Holiday Card Contest.
Alivia Quidera’s entry won first place while Presley Kerby was chosen for second place at a ceremony at PHS on Dec. 8. The winning design will be part of holiday cards Hamilton Haven sends to supporters.
The Bank of Delight and Farmers Bank and Trust sponsor the contest, which began in 2022.
“We are proud to involve our students with any community organization — that is what the Prescott community is all about,” said PHS principal Tommy Poole. “I love seeing the students being actively involved.”
“Hamilton Haven is blessed to be in a community that cultivates hope,” said Hamilton Haven executive director Michele Hamilton Rhodes.
Hamilton Haven, a nonprofit, opened in 2020 and provides emergency, short-term housing to temporarily displaced families and individuals.
Art teacher Jozie Tankersley welcomed the chance for her students to express themselves.
“Thank you to Hamilton Haven for giving the PHS art classes the opportunity to let their creativity to flow by designing holiday cards,” she said. “Our students had a wonderful time and are truly proud of the work they produced. It was great to watch them become so engaged in a project that both connects with and supports their community.”
“Mrs. Tankersley is doing a great job with the kids and growing their interest in art,” Poole added.
“What a wonderful way to share hope through inspiring art,” Rhodes said.
The winning entry will be on display at the Bank of Delight and the Hamilton Blakely Senior Center.
