
HOPE – The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the promotion of six deputies to the rank of Senior Deputy Sheriff. The newly promoted deputies are:
Senior Deputy Jacob Wayne – 5 years of service
Senior Deputy Kristen Evans – 6 years of service
Senior Deputy Marla Gullion – 17 years of service
Senior Deputy Lupe Becerra – 7 years of service
Senior Deputy Marcia Hardeman – Courthouse Security Division – 14 years of service
Senior Deputy Jimmy Smith – Courthouse Security Division -15 years of service
These promotions reflect each deputy’s commitment to duty, professionalism, and service to the citizens of Hempstead County.
Qualifications for Senior Deputy
Promotion to Senior Deputy Sheriff is a significant achievement. To be considered for this rank, a deputy must meet the following minimum qualifications:
*A minimum of five (5) years of continuous service with the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office
*Valid Arkansas Basic Law Enforcement Certification
*Consistent satisfactory or above performance evaluations for the previous three years
*Completion of required annual in-service training, including professional development courses
*Demonstrated professionalism, strong work ethic, and adherence to departmental policies
*A clean disciplinary record with no sustained violations within the previous 24 months
*Proven competency in decision-making, communication, community engagement, and officer safety
*Supervisor and command staff recommendation, with final approval by the Sheriff
Each of the newly promoted Senior Deputies has not only met these standards but has demonstrated leadership, dedication, and excellence in their daily service to the community.
